From April 24th to September 6th, 2026, the Palazzo delle Albere in Trento will host the exhibition “Anacronismi e discronie. Arte italiana dagli anni Ottanta ad oggi” (Anachronisms and Discrepancies. Italian Art from the Eighties to Today). An exploration of how Italian art in the last forty years has chosen to confront time unconventionally, establishing an anachronistic dialogue with history itself.
The exhibition traces the Transavanguardia, which brought painting and figuration back into vogue after the conceptual season, with artists such as Chia, Cucchi, Clemente and Paladino who reintroduced narration, myth and archetypes. This is followed by the experience of the Anacronisti, with a return to form and classical composition. The exhibition highlights how many artists have developed forms of misaligned temporality, creating works suspended between past and present, in an intermediate territory where iconographic memory is constantly reinterpreted. An opportunity to reflect on the relationship between art and time in contemporary society, in the heart of Trento.
