Soave Reimagines the Middle Ages: A Journey Through History, Flavours and Ancient Traditions

In the heart of the Veneto region, the enchanting town of Soave prepares for a journey back in time, re-enacting its glorious 14th-century atmosphere. From May 15 to 17, 2026, the traditional Medieval and Soave Wine Festival will transform the streets and squares beneath the imposing castle, offering an immersive experience that celebrates history, culture, and naturally, local gastronomic excellence.

Imagine strolling within the ancient walls, where artisans display period crafts and musicians fill the air with melodies from another era. Knights, ladies, and common folk in splendid costumes will animate the streets, with historical re-enactments capturing the imagination and captivating performances bringing past epochs to life. Children’s entertainment, parades, and ancient customs make the festival an event for the entire family, a moment of discovery and wonder.

Gastronomy holds a place of honour. Friday evening will commence with a sumptuous Medieval Banquet, a culinary experience promising to delight the senses. At the Piattezza del Soave, curated by the Strada del Vino, you will have the opportunity to taste the renowned Soave White Wine, appreciating its organoleptic notes and its deep connection to the territory. Here, you can pair the wine with a fish-based menu, while the Isola del Gusto in Piazza Foro Boario will offer meat specialties and risottos. The iconic Wine Fountain at Porta Verona is an unmissable symbol of conviviality and tradition. Soave’s festival is not merely an event; it is an invitation to experience a fragment of history, respectfully savouring its delicacies and rich cultural heritage.
