The Sala Colonne of the Museo Diocesano Francesco Gonzaga in Mantua hosts, from April 1st to May 31st, 2026, the solo exhibition of Monique De Rae, an internationally renowned Belgian artist. The exhibition celebrates “The Blue-eyed Lady,” an artistic project that combines surrealist aesthetics and social critique.

Monique De Rae, originally from Antwerp, transformed her career from clinical chemistry to art, creating a unique visual language. Her inspiration comes from her Giant Poodle, transformed into The Lady, a yellow figure with piercing blue eyes.

“The Blue-eyed Lady” is a witness to the complexities of our time. Through her oil paintings, De Rae explores current themes, inviting collective reflection. “As members of a free society, we have a duty to observe our world with a critical eye,” says the artist.

Monique De Rae, considered a Grand Master of contemporary art, has received numerous awards, including the silver medal from the “Art, Sciences and Literature” commission in Paris. Her works are present in international collections, highlighting the aesthetic and moral value of her art.
