On October 10, 2026, the village of Cassone, in the municipality of Malcesine, will host the fourth edition of the Palio dei Santi Benigno e Caro. Organized by A.S.D. Bisse Cassone with the support of the Malcesine Tourist Information Office (IAT), this event celebrates the traditional “voga alla veneta” rowing technique.
The schedule begins with a meeting at the port of Cassone at 2:00 PM. The draw for the men’s and mixed crews will take place at 2:30 PM, followed by the start of the regatta at 3:00 PM.

The stars of the event are the “bisse,” traditional Garda boats characterized by their flat bottoms, measuring approximately 10.5 meters in length and equipped with four oars. Used for centuries both for fishing and local competitions, these vessels are rowed standing up, requiring significant technical skill. The lack of a keel provides the boats with remarkable maneuverability and stability, making the rowing races a fascinating spectacle that connects the region to its historical roots.
