The year 1926 marked the establishment of the Aziende di Cura, Soggiorno e Turismo – predecessors to today’s Azienda per il Turismo – in Riva del Garda and other Italian locations. This was a crucial moment that formalized a journey which had begun much earlier, in the nineteenth century, when the allure of the lake and mountains already drew visitors from far and wide.
This important anniversary is not merely a remembrance of the past, but an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of a vital sector and its profound impact on the local community. To mark the occasion, a rich programme of events has been conceived, spanning from June to November 2026, inviting both residents and guests to immerse themselves in this unique heritage.

Among the initiatives, the exhibition “Visitate il Garda!” stands out, showcasing historical tourist posters at the MAG – Museo Alto Garda in Riva del Garda, open from July 3rd to October 15th. The programme will delve deeper into history with a new research study on local tourism, presented at the Palazzo dei Congressi, and an evocative reproduction of historical postcards that will adorn the streets of Riva del Garda between July and August. Historical conferences, such as the one at Palazzo Martini exploring the connection between the mountains and Trentino identity, and a discussion on the transformation of tourist communication, from postcards to TikTok, at the Rocca, will complete the picture. A forward-looking moment will be the “Future of Tourism” round table in November, designed to outline upcoming challenges and opportunities.
