Excursion to Malga Plaz: A Hidden Treasure in Banale
Embark on an unforgettable adventure to discover Malga Plaz, an ancient mountain hut nestled in a vast undulating meadow in the heart of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park. This trek will lead you through breathtaking landscapes, including wide expanses, steep slopes, and ancient paths, offering you an experience of deep connection with nature.
The excursion, suitable for intermediate hikers, winds along a loop trail of about 10 km, with an elevation gain of about 980 meters. Starting from Stenico, you will follow the SAT 346 and 347 trails, crossing forests of hornbeam, beech, and oak, and skirting the picturesque Lake Ponte Pià. After a stretch of rocky road, you will reach the Baita dei Cacciatori (Hunters’ Hut) and, shortly after, the meadows of Malga Plaz, a true corner of paradise.
The trail then continues into the forest, passing a ridge and descending towards Val di Laón, a section that requires caution due to the steep terrain and foliage. Finally, you will ascend towards the Capitèl de la Spina, and then return to Stenico along the SAT 346 trail.
