A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Shakespeare charms Mantua

The cultural season in Mantua welcomes a prestigious production of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Directed by Daniele Salvo, this staging transforms the stage into a labyrinth of mirrors and emotions, exploring the eternal struggle between reason and instinct that dwells within the human soul.

As part of the Mantova Teatro 2026-2027 season, this performance offers a profound reflection on the absurdity of life and the unpredictable nature of love. Through the “theatre within the theatre” device, the cast, led by Melania Giglio and Martino Duane, guides the audience through a wild dance where the divine and the bestial collide. Fabiana Di Marco’s set design and Patrizio Maria D’Artista’s original music create an ethereal atmosphere, perfect for delving into this cruel yet amusing fable, which reveals the deepest secrets of the human heart.
