A Silent Tribute: Women in the Great War in Sona

In the heart of Sona, a window will open onto a chapter of history often relegated to the background, yet imbued with extraordinary significance. The cultural evening ‘Women in the Great War’ will offer an opportunity to reflect on the fundamental and often silent contribution of women during one of the most devastating conflicts of the 20th century.

Through the expert narration of Professor Giovanni Tosi, the audience will be led on an emotional journey, retracing stories of courage, sacrifice, and indomitable strength that characterized the lives of women in the Veronese area during those difficult years. This will not be a mere presentation of facts, but a deep immersion into human experiences, daily challenges, and courageous decisions made by those who, far from the front, supported their families, worked the land, cared for the wounded, and kept hope alive.

This initiative in Sona aims to honour a collective memory, bringing to light the stories of ordinary women who, with their resilience, shaped the social fabric and contributed decisively to survival and reconstruction. It is an invitation to better understand the past, recognizing the invaluable worth of these figures and their lasting impact on our identity. An evening to listen, learn, and perhaps feel a little closer to the voices of those who lived through those times with dignity and determination.
