Accabadora at the Teatro Nuovo in Verona

On November 23rd, at 9:00 PM, the Teatro Nuovo in Verona will host the theatrical performance “Accabadora”. Based on the work by Michela Murgia, with dramaturgy by Carlotta Corradi and produced by Savà Produzioni Creative, the play brings a poignant story set in Sardinia to the stage.

The narrative follows the life of Maria, who at the age of six is given as a “fill’e anima” to Bonaria Urrai, a lonely seamstress who secretly acts as an “accabadora”—a traditional figure who assists the terminally ill in their passing. The story unfolds as Maria returns to Tzia Bonaria’s deathbed after years of living on the continent to escape her past. This final encounter becomes a moment of intense confrontation, where the anger Maria feels for the perceived betrayal clashes with her duty of care, a core aspect of this form of adoption. The performance is outside the regular subscription. For practical information and bookings, please contact the Box Office Verona.
