Pulcheria: The story of the Midwife of Velo at Teatro Orlandi

Teatro Orlandi in Velo Veronese presents the play “Pulcheria”, produced by the company Le Falìe. The performance tells the story of Pulcheria Caprara, a local historical figure known as the Midwife of Velo or the Vecia Comarona. Serving as a midwife, herbalist, and healer, Pulcheria lived in Velo Veronese for over forty years, becoming a central figure in the local community.

Set in the spring of 1948, the narrative follows the daily life of a woman who helped bring thousands of children into the world. The show explores the role of women in the rural society of the past, weaving together stories of births, secrets, and female solidarity. Through this production, Le Falìe offers a unique portrait of the local territory and its deep-rooted history.

Performances will take place at Teatro Orlandi in Velo Veronese on December 11th, December 28th, December 30th, January 2nd 2027, and January 23rd 2027. The shows begin at 8:30 PM. For booking information, please contact Teatro Orlandi directly.
