“Cain” debuts at the Teatro Camploy in Verona

The Teatro Camploy in Verona is preparing to host the debut of “Cain – Secular Oratorio for a God and a Woman’s Voice” on April 1, 2026, a production by Fucina Culturale Machiavelli, written and directed by Sara Menghetti. The show, scheduled for 8:45 PM, is part of the L’Altro Teatro / City series of the RPSV Network, supported by the Municipality of Verona.

“We are the lineage of Cain, born from Eve,” reads the presentation. The show explores the figure of Cain, a symbol of those who toil and rebel, questioning free will and the presence of evil. On stage, Cain, Eve, and Abel, figures made contemporary to tell a millennial story set in a sacred and tormented land. Alongside them, God and Lucifer, satirical allegories of good and evil.

Sara Menghetti describes “Cain” as a work with two matrices: Eve, who questions her own mistakes, and the Word, represented by God, Lucifer, and the law. On stage, Sabrina Carletti, Tobia Dal Corso Polzot, and Giulio Macrì will give voice and body to this intense drama, which concludes with a moving letter from the father of a child orphaned after the Bataclan attack.
