Carnival in Domegliara: A Tradition That Continues

The “Carnealon de Domeiara” is gearing up for its 79th edition, an unmissable event that transforms Domegliara, a hamlet of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, into a realm of joy. On February 15, 2026, the streets of the village will come alive with the grand parade of allegorical floats, an event that involves the entire community.

The Valbusana Court, with its Duke, Duchess, Marquis of Montindon, Marchioness, Baron of Recioto Grola, and the faithful Cedrone, will lead the parade, welcoming the crowned heads of Verona and its province. Allegorical floats, folk groups, and the festive people will create an atmosphere of joy and fun for all ages.

The history of the Carnival of Domegliara has its roots back in 1947 when, in an Italy eager to revive after the war, some villagers found inspiration for the name of their duchy in a bin with the word “Valbusa” written on it. Since then, Domegliara has transformed into the “Duchy of Valbusa”, an ephemeral kingdom ruled by a Duke elected each year by the people.

Not far from Domegliara, you might discover the wonders of Valpolicella, a territory rich in history and flavors.
