The Teatro Comunale in Gonzaga presents “Fra’ San Francesco, the Medieval Superstar,” a play directed by Francesco Ferdinando Brandi in co-production with Teatro Carcano, Mismaonda, and Viola Produzioni.
Why does Saint Francis fascinate so many, even those distant from faith? Perhaps because he was an artist in the fullest sense of the word. His sermons were mad and visionary performances, a playful dialogue with nature. Francis improvised in French, quoting epic passages and reinterpreting them, using his body and even suffering to communicate.
