The Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino celebrates photography as a tool for memory and the study of local history with the exhibition “From Trento to the World: Giorgio Salomon’s Visual Chronicles”.
Housed in the halls of Palazzo Roccabruna in Trento, the exhibition offers a careful selection of Giorgio Salomon’s visual chronicles, created first in Trentino as a photographer for the newspaper “Alto Adige”, and later in various parts of the world as a RAI cameraman.

The exhibition highlights the development of these two phases of Salomon’s career. The first period, in black and white, traces the salient facts of local news: economic and social development, protests, attacks, accidents and the tragedies of Vajont and the 1966 flood. A fervent era recounted by Italian photojournalism, with Salomon always at the forefront to document reality.
The second period testifies to his international experiences, from mountaineering expeditions to war photography, from street photography to portraits. The exhibition underlines the importance of Salomon’s point of view, always authentic and fueled by a deep curiosity towards people and by the awareness of the civil function of photography.
