MANTOVAMUSICA DICIOTTOETRENTA – Waiting for Beethoven in Mantua

The musical journey of MantovaMusica continues with an unmissable appointment of the MM DiciottoeTrenta series: “Waiting for Beethoven…”. On Thursday, April 16, 2026, the evocative Ex Chiesa Madonna della Vittoria in Mantua will host the Edoné Trio, composed of Paolo Ghidoni (violin), Marco Perini (cello), and Ruggero Ruocco (piano).

The ensemble will guide the audience through two masterpieces of Beethoven’s chamber music production, exploring the stylistic evolution of the genius from Bonn. The program will begin with the Trio op. 1 no. 2 in G major, a youthful work full of freshness and classical rigor, culminating in the famous Trio op. 70 no. 1 in D major, known as “The Ghosts” (Geistertrio), a nickname due to the rarefied and restless atmospheres of the second movement.

To enrich the listening experience, Stefano Patuzzi will offer critical and historical insights to contextualize the works and deepen the connection between the author and the form of the piano trio. After the concert, it will be possible to participate in the “Come dine with us” formula, an opportunity to end the evening together with the artists and organizers.

The Edoné Trio, founded in 2019, is “trio in residence” of the Camerata Strumentale di Cremona and has recorded the complete Brahms trios for the “Da Vinci Classic” label.
