Mario Porta. When the territory becomes a landscape

Palazzo Menghini in Castiglione delle Stiviere hosts an exhibition dedicated to the painter Mario Porta. Curated by Gianfranco Ferlisi, the display retraces over forty years of artistic research by the author, who was born in 1933 and passed away in 2003.

The exhibition highlights the artist’s stylistic evolution, from his beginnings linked to Lombard Chiarismo to his subsequent post-Impressionist influences. For Porta, painting represented a way to explore everyday life: familiar faces, domestic objects, and glimpses of the Mantuan territory and Lake Garda are transformed into landscapes imbued with memory and belonging.

The exhibition will be open from October 3, 2026, to January 10, 2027, at Palazzo Menghini, Via Cesare Battisti 29/g. Admission is free. Opening hours are Fridays from 3 pm to 6 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm.
