Verona’s summer season is enriched by a captivating theatrical event, courtesy of the La Pocostabile Theater Company. From June 30th to July 6th, the evocative cloister of Sant’Eufemia will host a performance of Molière’s The Doctor in Spite of Himself, directed by Lucia Ruina and Mario Peretti.
This celebrated comedy functions like a clockwork mechanism, expertly built on misunderstandings, disguises, and a relentless pace. At the heart of the story is Sganarello, a lazy woodcutter whose penchant for wine leads him to be mistaken for a distinguished physician by servants seeking help. To avoid a grim fate, the protagonist decides to play along, ironically stepping into the shoes of a doctor amidst a series of hilarious situations.
