The Monte Baldo chain rises between the Val d’Adige and Lake Garda and represents one of the most panoramic points to enjoy the lake from above and venture among many paths, including cycle paths.
The southern summit of Mount Baldo is now easily accessible thanks to the Prada – Costabella lifts, completely renovated and put into operation in August 2022: the Prada two-seater basket (1,000 meters above sea level) – Ortigaretta (1,550 meters above sea level) and the Ortigaretta two-seater chairlift. – Costabella (1,850 m asl).
What to do once you get to Cima Costabella?
Monte Baldo is famous for the variety of its flora, so much so that it is called “Hortus Europae” (Garden of Europe), with some species of native flowers called baldensis. From Cima Costabella you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Garda, the mountains of the Alps and the Po Valley, embracing it in all its extension up to the Apennines.
From the arrival station of the chairlift there are numerous treks leading to mountain huts and refuges, the closest being the Fiori del Baldo Refuge and the Chierego Refuge. On the way you can meet chamois and marmots, especially in the quiet low season.
