Richard III at the Teatro Nuovo in Verona

From March 16 to March 21, 2027, Verona welcomes William Shakespeare’s “Richard III” to the stage of the Teatro Nuovo. This production is part of the 40th edition of IL GRANDE TEATRO, organized by the Municipality of Verona in collaboration with the Fondazione Atlantide Teatro Stabile di Verona.

Directed by Antonio Latella and starring Vinicio Marchioni as Richard III, the play offers a fresh perspective on the classic work. Moving away from traditional representations of the protagonist’s physical deformities, the director explores evil as a form of opulent, seductive beauty within a setting reminiscent of the Garden of Eden. The narrative focuses on Richard’s ruthless climb to the throne and his complex struggle against the female characters who ultimately challenge his power.

Performance times vary by date, with shows scheduled at 4:00 PM and 8:45 PM. Tickets can be purchased at standard sales points or via the BoxOffice Verona website.
