From July 17th to November 15th, 2026, the Galleria Civica in Trento hosts “Stones of Bread. Artistic Practices for an Ecology of Permanence,” an exhibition that invites reflection on fragile and abandoned places, with a particular focus on the highlands.
Inspired by the thought of Italian anthropologist Vito Teti, the exhibition explores examples of “permanence” and “remaining,” practices that reverse the trend of depopulation. Territories and spaces are transformed into cultural geographies where commitment, care, and responsibility take shape through ethical actions.

Artworks, documents, and archival materials make up an exhibition path divided into thematic “villages”: latencies, frictions, drifts, and reactivations. These key concepts guide the visitor through a profound reflection on the relationship between man and territory. The exhibition, created in collaboration with the Municipality of Trento and with the contribution of scientific partners such as the Trento Film Festival and Arte Sella, is enriched by a catalog with critical contributions, including an unpublished text by Vito Teti.
