The Feast of San Filippo: a medieval journey in Torri del Benaco

Each year, the enchanting village of Torri del Benaco prepares for a journey through time, celebrating its Feast of San Filippo with a complete immersion in a medieval atmosphere. From May 23rd to 25th, 2026, the majestic Scaligero Castle will become the perfect backdrop for three days of festivities, where history and spectacle merge into a captivating experience.

Imagine yourself amidst rolling drums, sword duels, and figures in period attire, as a tented camp recreates a setting worthy of a film. The ancient walls will echo with stories and laughter, thanks to itinerant theatre groups of “hucksters and charlatans” who will guide visitors into a distant past, full of wonder and tradition.

The program is rich with unmissable moments. On the evening of Saturday, May 23rd, a spectacular fire show will mesmerize the audience, followed on Sunday, May 24th, by performances from Jack Salem and another enchanting fire display. Monday, May 25th, will feature the historical group of Megliadino San Vitale, whose presence will further enhance the authenticity of the re-enactment.

The culmination of the celebration will arrive on the evening of Tuesday, May 26th, when, in a gesture of deep tradition and respect for San Filippo Neri, a boat will be ceremonially burned, illuminating the lake’s waters with an evocative glow. An opportunity to experience Torri del Benaco in an unusual and fascinating guise, discovering a piece of its ancient soul.
