Forget the vertical pole climb. In Lazise, the challenge unfolds on a long, horizontal, meticulously greased log extending over the water at the corner of the picturesque ancient port. The objective is simple in its audacity: traverse the pole barefoot, without falling, to reach a flag positioned at its very end. Once grasped, the flag must be held firmly during the inevitable plunge into the water to claim the well-deserved prize.
