Ugo Celada da Virgilio: Between War and Peace in Castiglione delle Stiviere

Palazzo Menghini in Castiglione delle Stiviere hosts the monographic exhibition “Ugo Celada da Virgilio. Between War and Peace / 1943-1947”, curated by Gianfranco Ferlisi. The exhibition celebrates Ugo Celada da Virgilio (1895–1995), a leading figure in 20th-century Italian painting, through a selection of works from private collections in Castiglione, many of which are exhibited for the first time. The exhibition traces the artist’s career, focusing on his stay in Castiglione during World War II, a period in which he created significant works. This period, marked by human connections and creativity, offers a new perspective on his painting. A monographic volume accompanies the exhibition, enriched with images and unpublished documents.
