The city of Trento hosts a poignant exhibition that traces the Trentino experience during World War II. Against the backdrop of major war events, the exhibition focuses on local affairs: the battlefronts involving the Italian army, the complex decisions following the 1943 armistice, and daily life under the threat of bombing raids and Nazi control. The Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino has undertaken an important census to identify the approximately 40,000 Trentino soldiers who participated in the conflict, enriching its archives with photographic documents and autobiographical testimonies thanks to private donations. This exhibition represents an initial sharing of this heritage, offering an insight into local history on the 80th anniversary of World War II. An opportunity to reflect on and learn about an important piece of the territory’s history.
