Cheese Rolling Italy: The Crazy Cheese Race!
Imagine: a steep meadow, a cheese rolling headlong, and a group of people chasing it in a crazy race. Welcome to Cheese Rolling Italy, the only race of its kind in Italy, taking place in San Valentino di Brentonico!
Inspired by the traditional Welsh competition, this unique event offers you the opportunity to witness an incredible spectacle or, if you are brave enough, to test yourself as a competitor. Get ready to roll down the slope in an attempt to grab the coveted cheese.
How does it work?
The race involves several heats of 15-20 participants to select the finalists. From the top of a ramp, once a ski slope, competitors launch themselves in pursuit of a 5 kg cheese. The first to reach the bottom wins!
Sounds easy? The slope is about 30° and the terrain is anything but smooth. Managing to stay on your feet is a challenge within a challenge.
