Darby Historical March in Torbole sul Garda: Re-enactment of the Liberation

The Darby Historical March commemorates the liberation of Nago-Torbole and Riva del Garda by the soldiers of the American Tenth Mountain Division, the “American Alpine soldiers,” in April 1945. US troops moved up the eastern Gardesana from Peschiera del Garda to Torbole, liberating the lakeside towns. The battle of Torbole and Riva del Garda was particularly intense, with strong German resistance. The march, held annually for over ten years, attracts between 500 and 1,000 participants, including military personnel from American bases (Vicenza, Aviano, Germany) and participants from the United States.
