Exploring the Archaeological Area of Palazzo Lodron

In the heart of the historic center of Trento, located in the square of the same name, lies a site of great historical value: the Archaeological Area of Palazzo Lodron. This settlement, which has reopened to the public, offers a direct glimpse into ancient Tridentum, allowing visitors to explore the remains of a neighborhood dating back to the Roman city founded in the second half of the 1st century B.C.

Archaeological research conducted by the Archaeological Heritage Office of the Superintendency for Cultural Heritage and Activities has brought to light elements of significant interest. Visitors can admire a section of the ancient city walls, part of a road, the remains of a tower, private dwellings, and a winery shop. The site joins other important historical landmarks in the city, such as the Underground Archaeological Space of the Sas, the Roman Villa of Orfeo, and Porta Veronensis.

The area is open to the public every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:30 to 16:30. It is a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the Roman roots of the Trentino region, in a journey that combines scientific research with cultural appreciation.
