Guided tour of the Civic Tower – Diocesan Museum

The Civic Tower is one of the most iconic landmarks of Trento. Standing 45 meters tall, it offers a unique perspective of the city, overlooking the beautiful Piazza Duomo alongside the Cathedral of San Vigilio and the Neptune Fountain. Built around the mid-12th century on the remains of the ancient Porta Veronensis (1st century AD), the tower has served as a bishop’s residence, an administrative center, and a prison until the end of the 19th century.

This monument historically regulated civic life, marking urban time and warning citizens of danger through its two bells, known as “della renga” and “della rason”. Thanks to a recent restoration, it is now possible to explore eight of the twelve levels that make up the building. Guided tours are organized by the Diocesan Museum of Trento in partnership with the Municipality of Trento.

The event takes place from September 26 to December 31, 2028 (closed on Tuesdays). Opening hours are from 10:00 to 18:00. Please note that the tower can only be visited through guided tours, which reveal the secrets and history of this symbol of Trento.
