Gigante Gigli 300th Anniversary: celebration in Bezzecca

On October 18th, Bezzecca, in the municipality of Ledro, will host the “Gigante Gigli 300th Anniversary” event. The day is dedicated to Bernardo Gigli, born in Bezzecca in 1726, famous for his extraordinary height which led him to perform before monarchs such as Louis XV of France and Catherine II of Russia.

The program in Piazza Garibaldi will begin at 10:00 with the opening of the area. At 11:00, the inauguration of the statue dedicated to the Giant will take place, followed at 11:30 by a show and workshop for children with the Magician. From 12:00, it will be possible to enjoy polenta cocia with cabbage, at a cost of 7.00 euros per portion.

In the afternoon, at 13:00, a commemorative parade will take place accompanied by dances by the San Bernardino Association. The day will conclude at 17:00 at the former Don Bosco cinema with the presentation of a book in honor of the Giant.
