On July 11th, Brenzone sul Garda prepares for the traditional parish festival of Ondes de Luj, a commemoration of the vow made by the population back in 1836. A deeply rooted event in local history, it remembers the request for help to the Madonna against the cholera epidemic that struck the region. The procession, the heart of the festival, will see the wooden statue of the Assumption traveling paths through olive groves and the characteristic villages of the area.
The day will begin at 6:00 am with the first mass in the parish church of Castello, followed by the pilgrimage that will cross the villages, reaching Assenza at 8:00 am for a second mass in the church of San Nicola. The route will end again in Castello at 10:30 am with the solemn Holy Mass. In the evening, from 7:00 pm, the sports field of Castello will come alive with food stands offering typical local dishes, including spaghetti with agole and polenta with lake fish, prepared according to ancient recipes. The evening will be enlivened by live music, culminating at 11:00 pm with the prize draw of the lottery and a DJ set to end the party in joy.
