Rustico Medioevo in Riva del Garda: A Journey Back in Time

Imagine stepping through a portal, finding yourself transported to an era of knights, minstrels, and ancient crafts. In Riva del Garda, specifically in the charming village of Canale, this dream comes to life with the event ‘Rustico Medioevo’ (Medieval Rustic).

From August 1st to 9th, 2026, the small square, alleys, and vaulted passages of Canale di Tenno transform into an open-air stage, animated by original and engaging performances. Jesters, storytellers, actors, and acrobats perform in the village streets, while costumed characters reenact duels, processions, and ancient markets.

The atmosphere is further enhanced by banners, flags, and torches, creating an immersive experience that enchants both young and old. Children can enjoy forgotten medieval games, such as medieval crosses, or rediscover popular pastimes such as sack races and treasure hunts.

But ‘Rustico Medioevo’ is also an opportunity to delight the palate with the authentic flavors of lower Trentino. The volunteers of the local Committee passionately prepare typical dishes such as polenta and peveraà, goulash, rustic loin, and pork shank. These delicacies are served in the characteristic Volti and Ere, which preserve the charm of the thirteenth-century architecture, offering an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
