“Sentinelle di Pietra”: Historical Reenactments in Rovereto’s Forts

Immerse yourself in history with “Sentinelle di Pietra” (Stone Sentinels), a series of shows, guided tours, and excursions that wind through the forts of Trentino, symbols of the First World War. Promoted by the Cultural Activities Service of the Autonomous Province of Trento and curated by the Centro Servizi Culturali S. Chiara with the Fondazione Museo Storico del Trentino, this event transforms former conflict zones into stages for peace and culture.

From June 21st to September 23rd, follow the paths of the Great War, from the Dolomite landscapes to Lake Garda, with a programme full of evocative experiences. This year, 17 Austro-Hungarian fortifications will host over 30 events: music, narratives, and light shows that evoke the atmosphere of the conflict along the Peace Trail.

Noteworthy events include “Rulli di Luce” (Rolls of Light) on June 23rd at Forte Pozzacchio, a nighttime event celebrating Futurism with light projections and music. On August 7th, “A piedi nudi” (Barefoot) by Compagnia Sharon Fridman pays homage to the women who rebuilt the world after the war, featuring one hundred artists in symbolic locations such as a train station, a military shrine, and the Campana dei Caduti (Bell of the Fallen).

Also on offer are animated excursions and theatrical tours in the forts, for an immersive experience in history. Furthermore, meetings with writers and scholars in the refuges along the Peace Trail will offer insights into the war of yesterday and today.
