The City Museum of Rovereto celebrates the centenary of Maria Dolens with a photographic exhibition entitled “The Bell and the City. From the Castle to Colle di Miravalle (1925-1965)”.
Curated by Alice Salavolti, the exhibition tells the story of the period when the Maria Dolens Bell stood on the Malipiero tower of the Castle, a distinctive symbol of the city for decades. The photographs, from the archives of the Fondazione Campana dei Caduti, the MITAG – Italian War History Museum, the Fondazione Museo Civico and the Rovereto History Laboratory, document the first forty years of Maria Dolens’ life.

At the same time, the MITAG reopens the Sala Campana after careful restoration, offering visitors a journey dedicated to the history of Maria Dolens and its deep connection with the Rovereto community. The photographic exhibition and the reopening of the Sala Campana ideally dialogue, returning a unitary vision of the historical memory of Rovereto: a city that has been able to preserve and reinterpret its symbols.
The exhibition is part of a call promoted by the Autonomous Province of Trento, with the Comunità della Vallagarina as the lead body, in collaboration with the Municipality of Rovereto and the ApT Rovereto Vallagarina e Monte Baldo.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00. Closed on 1 January, 5 August, 1 November and 25 December. Extraordinary openings are scheduled for 21 April, 2 June, 8 December and 5 January.
