The Bellowing of the Deer: A Night in the Nature of Vallagarina

Imagine a dinner with the authentic flavors of the mountains, followed by a guided walk under the moonlight. In Rovereto, in Vallagarina, towards the end of September and the beginning of October, an ancient ritual is celebrated: the bellowing of the deer.

It’s the mating season for these majestic animals, a time when adult males abandon their solitude to seek a mate. Accompanied by an expert guide, you’ll immerse yourself in the forest, in a silence full of sounds: the wind in the leaves, the song of the birds, the chirping of crickets. And then, suddenly, a raucous and deep sound, the bellowing of the deer, its love song to conquer the females and challenge the rivals.

The evening begins at Albergo Aurora with a dinner that celebrates the typical products of the area. After dinner, you’ll move to Camposilvano, a wild place where deer find their ideal habitat. Here, among pastures and woods, you can listen to the bellowing, a powerful call that resonates in the night. An experience of listening and waiting, a deep connection with the forest and its inhabitants.

The menu includes a crostone with extra virgin olive oil, garlic and rosemary with Colonnata lard, a unique dish of Trentino dumplings with goulash sauce, and cream ice cream with warm berries.
