The last days: Adamello Glacier’s Poignant Story in Trento

At the Museo Nazionale Storico degli Alpini in Trento, a profoundly resonant visual narrative unfolds: the photographic exhibition titled ‘The last days – The Adamello glacier in Michele Gusmeri’s photographs’. This exhibition, a collaboration between the Museum, the Italian Alpine Club of Brescia, and the Historical Museum Foundation of Trentino, invites contemplation on our contemporary era.

From April 28 to May 22, 2026, visitors will have the opportunity to engage with large-format analog images that capture the majesty, and simultaneously, the vulnerability of the Adamello glacier. This ice giant, the most extensive ice concentration in the Italian Alps, is immortalized at a crucial point in its inexorable retreat. Michele Gusmeri’s shots are not merely photographs, but silent, powerful testimonies of an ephemeral beauty, destined to change, perhaps to disappear.
