The Power of Machines: Humanity, Environment, and Technology in Sixteenth-Century Trentino

From November 22, 2025, to May 30, 2026, the Palazzo delle Albere in Trento will host the exhibition “The Power of Machines. Humanity, Environment, Technology in Sixteenth-Century Trentino”. The first half of the sixteenth century was an era in which mechanical ingenuity and technological innovation profoundly influenced the economy, society, and environment.

The exhibition invites visitors to explore the multifaceted, often ambivalent, implications of these epochal changes. From the invention of printing to astronomical explorations, from maps to everyday objects, from medicine to agriculture: a thematic journey through the halls of the palace, where original objects, rare volumes, and ancient instruments tell centuries-old stories of transformation, innovation, and resilience.

The temporary exhibition is part of the Euregio Museums Year 2025 / Euregio Museum Jahr 2025 program, created on the occasion of the five-hundredth anniversary of the Tyrolean peasant revolts. A year of cultural initiatives, curated by over 70 institutions from the three territories, to reflect on the role of technology in the construction of modern societies and the tensions it generates, yesterday as today.
