Summer 2026 promises a period of profound reflection and beauty in San Benedetto Po, where the Polironiano Museum hosts “The Sense of Greatness”, an international exhibition dedicated to Rudolf Leitner-Gründberg. This Austrian artist, among Europe’s most brilliant painters, presents a site-specific project that engages with the history and spirituality of this ancient place.
Curated by art historians Paola Artoni, Peter Assmann, and Paolo Bertelli, the exhibition invites visitors to explore humanity’s “highest possibility” through works that radiate a mysterious splendor. Shimmering gold and the depth of blue are the starting points for compositions that blend nature, culture, and the expression of human personality. Leitner-Gründberg’s paintings and installations, some of which are absolute premieres, unfold through the Refectory, Chapter House, and Gallery, up to the monumental staircase, creating a path that elevates both sight and soul.
