A Pledge for the Future: Planting the Scented Bellflower on Monte Tremalzo

The Garda Trentino region, with its majestic peaks and rich biodiversity, is preparing for a deeply meaningful initiative. On Saturday, June 21, 2026, Monte Tremalzo will be the setting for a day dedicated to protecting our natural heritage: the planting of the Scented Bellflower (Adenophora liliifolia).

This rare alpine plant species, sadly at risk of extinction today, will return to its natural habitats thanks to a collective effort. The event is part of the broader and ambitious European Life SeedForce project, coordinated by MUSE – the Science Museum of Trento. The objective is clear: to improve the conservation status of 29 threatened alpine plant species, restoring balance and life to precious ecosystems.

The Scented Bellflower, an elegant herbaceous plant, prefers bright, warm woodland clearings on calcareous substrates. Its disappearance from Monte Tremalzo, where it was last sighted in 1997, serves as a stark reminder. This day offers an opportunity to reverse this trend, actively contributing to its reintroduction and environmental restoration.

The morning will begin at 10:00 AM with a meeting at the Lake Ampola car park, a picturesque starting point. After a welcome coffee, experts from MUSE will present the Life SeedForce project, offering valuable scientific insights. This will be followed by an operational briefing and the exciting start of the planting activities. A shared lunch among all participants will strengthen the community spirit before resuming the second phase of work. The day will conclude at 3:00 PM with a sharing of results, leaving a tangible mark and concrete hope for the future of alpine biodiversity.
