Carlos Solito Presents “Humanity, Faces Through Time” in Rovereto

The Sala delle Botti at Villa Guerrieri Gonzaga in Rovereto hosts the solo exhibition of photographer Carlos Solito, titled “Humanity, Faces Through Time,” from June 17 to October 29, 2023.

Curated with an idea by Vittorio Sgarbi, the exhibition features 34 large-format photographs portraying the faces of ordinary people, captured in their everyday life settings: villages, churches, streets, seashores, cliffs.

Solito captures the essence of humanity through the marks of time etched on faces, particularly those of the elderly. Wrinkles become maps of existential journeys, testimonies of years, decades, centuries, and millennia intersecting with our present. Whether they are found on a farmer’s hands, a shepherd’s forehead, or around a fisherman’s eyes, these lines tell stories of life, existence, and memory.

Carlos Solito’s portraits, alongside the sculptures of Pietro Weber, are part of the “La bella estate del Mart” project, a series of exhibitions curated by the museum and set up in evocative locations in Vallagarina, such as Parco Guerrieri Gonzaga and Palazzo Libera in Villa Lagarina.

Carlos Solito, a writer, photographer, journalist, and director, has exhibited his work in various countries and published numerous illustrated volumes. The exhibition is open from Friday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (last entry at 5:00 pm). Admission is included in the entrance ticket to Parco Guerrieri Gonzaga.
