Castelnuovo del Garda is preparing for a period of deep reflection and joyful celebration, marking the 160th anniversary of the Oliosi Flag. This banner, steeped in Risorgimento history, represents a powerful symbol of the community’s enduring connection to its past. To honour this significant occasion, the Municipality, in collaboration with numerous local associations, has orchestrated a rich calendar of events from June 19 to 29.
The celebrations will commence with the presentation of diplomas to students from the Sensofilm Academy, followed by an inaugural concert by the town band. Subsequent days will offer a tribute to historical memory, featuring a special philatelic postmark, an evocative parade through the streets of Oliosi, and a ceremony at the Park of the Fallen. A photographic reproduction of the flag and a copy of the original, preserved at the Flag Museum, will be presented, offering a closer look at this precious artefact. Solemn moments will include the conferment of honorary citizenship and acknowledgments to important representatives. The evening of June 20 will resonate with a concert by the Bersaglieri Fanfare of Padua, culminating in a traditional dinner.
