Forgotten Vietnam: An Exhibition at the MITAG in Rovereto

The MITAG, Italian War History Museum in Rovereto, presents a poignant temporary exhibition: “Forgotten Vietnam”. The exhibition sheds light on a fierce conflict, the Indochina War (1946-1954), and the often-overlooked experience of the Italian legionnaires who took part in it. Seventy years after the battle of Điện Biên Phủ, the exhibition offers an unprecedented look at the lives of these men, between 7,000 and 10,000, enlisted in the French Foreign Legion. Through images, autobiographical testimonies and objects from personal archives and museum collections, a story of courage, sacrifice and suffering is told. Curated with the support of Athesia Verlag and the contribution of the Autonomous Province of Trento, the University of Trento and the Municipality of Rovereto, “Forgotten Vietnam” is an opportunity to reflect on a little-known chapter of our history. The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 18.00. Admission is included in the museum ticket.
