In the heart of Rovereto, an exhibition unfolds, inviting profound reflection, an intimate journey into the story of Ezio Setti, tragically lost in Mauthausen. From January 31 to May 29, 2026, the city hosts “I am calm, may you be too”, a project spanning two symbolic locations: the City Museum and the underpass of the train station.
This exhibition is more than a simple succession of dates and facts; it is a poignant dialogue between past and present. At the City Museum, visitors can immerse themselves in a documentary journey that, through personal and public photographs, memoirs, and original documents, reconstructs the human and political figure of Ezio Setti. It is a narrative that emerges with subtle grace, allowing one to grasp the depth of a life cut short, yet whose echo still resonates today.

The second segment of the project is found in the underpass of the Rovereto train station, a place of daily transit transformed into a space of collective memory. Here, a site-specific installation recalls Setti’s last letter, thrown from a cattle car speeding towards the extermination camp. The replication of this fall, for a number of times equal to the days of his detention, creates an emotional “stumble”, an invitation to pause and feel the weight of history. A collection of black and white photographs documents the places that marked Setti’s life, offering a perspective on the persistence of his memory in today’s landscape.
The exhibition journey will culminate on May 29, 2026, with an evocative finissage. Starting at 6:00 PM, Matteo Setti Peterlini will guide the public through a visit enriched by contributions from actress Sabrina Campagna and a captivating sound performance by La stanza. An occasion to honor memory and to renew commitment towards a conscious future.
