Luca Campigotto’s Mantuan Inventory: A Photographic Journey Through History and Silence

Event Details

  • 📅 Start Date: 05/06/2026
  • 🔚 End Date: 29/07/2026
  • 📍 Location: MANTOVA

In Mantua, the Fondazione Banca Agricola Mantovana presents an exhibition that invites contemplation: “Luca Campigotto. Inventario mantovano”. This show, curated by Mario Peliti, marks a recent chapter in the Foundation’s long-standing and prestigious photographic documentation of the city and its province. From June 5 to July 29, 2026, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a rediscovered, almost reinvented Mantua, seen through the lens of a master.

Luca Campigotto, a Venetian artist of refined sensibility, offers an exploration that transcends mere documentation. His “inventory” is an act of discovery, an “invenire” that uncovers new perspectives within the familiar. Many of his shots are nocturnal, a time cherished by the photographer for its ability to evoke human presence even in absence, to transform the urban landscape into a stage of history and architecture. It is a Mantua that reveals itself in an unexpected light, amidst the volumes of the Renaissance and Rationalism, in streets enlivened by bicycles, and in windows that offer glimpses of intimacy within the darkness.

The exhibition journey extends from the historical heart of Mantua, with its palaces and squares, to the edges of the province. Campigotto explores active and disused industrial sites, and the rich Mantuan countryside, with its seasons and its produce. It is a dialogue between land and water, between canals, lakes, and bridges, where the hand of man is evident in Virgil’s “Labor omnia vincit”. This free admission exhibition is an invitation to rediscover Mantua, a visual experience celebrating the beauty and complexity of a region through the profound gaze of a great photographer.
