One Hundred Years of Maria Dolens: A Century of Peace in Rovereto

In Rovereto, the Campana dei Caduti (Bell of the Fallen) prepares to celebrate a century of history, resonating with a message of peace that is more relevant than ever. It was back in 1925 when Don Antonio Rossaro had the intuition to melt the bronze of cannons into a symbol of brotherhood, giving life to Maria Dolens.

Throughout 2025, a rich program of events will commemorate this important anniversary. It will begin on April 12th with the inauguration of the exhibition “The Myth of the Bell”, and will continue with theatrical performances, concerts, meetings and international seminars on human rights. Among the most significant events are the concert of the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento (July 21st) and the event “Città inVISIBILI” (July 25-27) which will transform Rovereto into an open-air stage. There will be moments dedicated to children, with the concert “Armonicamente bambino” (April 27th) and the final event of “Il Bosco della Pace” (June 20th).

The celebrations will culminate on October 4th, on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the first ringing of Maria Dolens. An opportunity to reflect on the meaning of peace and to renew the commitment to building a better future for all. The Campana dei Caduti, with its hundred tolls, will continue to resonate as a warning and an invitation to hope.
