Sonnabend Collection in Mantua: A Journey Through Contemporary Art

In Mantua, Palazzo della Ragione hosts the Sonnabend Collection Mantova, a new museum dedicated to contemporary art. The permanent collection, the result of Ileana Sonnabend’s vision, is divided into eleven rooms that retrace the patron’s journey, exhibiting iconic masterpieces of American art such as Jasper Johns’ Figure 8, Roy Lichtenstein’s Little Aloha, and Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup. Alongside these seminal works of Pop Art, there are works by Jim Dine, James Rosenquist, and Tom Wesselmann, as well as contemporary research by Italian artists such as Michelangelo Pistoletto and Mario Schifano.

Opening hours: Open from Wednesday to Monday, from 10:00 to 18:00 (last entry one hour before closing). Closed on Tuesdays and December 25, 2025.

Tickets: Open Sonnabend Collection €15; Full price €13; Reduced €11 (groups, visitors up to 26 years, visitors over 65 years, BPER customers and employees, LAEffe La Feltrinelli card holders); Reduced Mantova Sabbioneta Card holders €8; Special reduced €6 (school groups, students from 12 to 18 years).
