Affi Medieval Festival: A Captivating Journey Through Time

Each year, the charming village of Affi transforms into a vibrant stage for its Medieval Festival, an event celebrating its XXVI edition from June 13 to 14, 2026. It is an invitation to immerse oneself in a bygone era, where history is not merely told but lived, breathed in every corner of the historic center.

The village streets will be alive with valiant knights and skilled archers, guardians of an atmosphere from another time. Wandering musicians will fill the air with ancient melodies, while flag-wavers and jesters will enchant audiences with spectacular performances in the squares and processions. The experience is enriched by encountering tireless artisans at work in their workshops: the carpenter, the weaver, the basket maker, the potter, the leather worker, the patient scribe, the goldsmith, the wise apothecary, the marble worker, the baker, the paper maker, and merchants of salt and relics. A vivid tableau of trades that shaped the past.

Access to all shows is completely free, allowing everyone to enjoy the jugglers’ acrobatics, the flag-wavers’ evolutions, the imposing figures of the armed guards, and the elegance of the damsels. For those desiring an authentic culinary experience, the Locanda dei Villici del Moscal and the Osteria de la Porchetta offer traditional flavors, while the Antica Taberna provides period beverages. A highlight is the exclusive Antico Banchetto in Piazza, a unique event with shows and limited seating, bookable on the official website.

This edition also introduces new features for all ages: evocative readings in the dark by the Affi Library and the highly anticipated Grand Duel of Errant Knights, an exciting confrontation that brings the charm of the chivalric era back to the village streets. Gianluca Pressi and Marco Sega proudly highlight the event’s ability to unite tradition, spectacle, and community involvement. The program includes an open day with the Affi Flag-Wavers Group, a medieval market with games and ceramic workshops for children, historical parades, itinerant shows, and a majestic fire spectacle by the Ordallegri company, which will conclude the evenings. Sunday also offers a guided walk through the ancient center, to discover the history and curiosities of the village.
