The Carbonera Challenge in Castelletto di Brenzone

On November 15, 2026, on the occasion of the Ancient Fair of Santa Caterina, Brenzone sul Garda hosts the highly anticipated Carbonera Challenge. The event takes place in Castelletto, where teams from the various districts of the municipality compete in preparing the traditional local dish.

The “carbonera” is a specialty made of polenta, local cheeses, and local olive oil, cooked in a copper cauldron. Teams will start preparing the dish at 09:00, and tasting will be available starting from 12:00. Both a popular jury and a quality jury will judge the entries to award the best carbonera.

In case of bad weather, the challenge will be postponed to Sunday, November 22. Organized by IAT Brenzone, the event represents a wonderful opportunity to experience the authentic culinary heritage of the lake.
